Little Birdie One Step Crackle Medium
Our easy One-Step Crackle Medium gives you the perfect decorative effect! It can be used on a variety of surfaces with acrylic mediums and paints, and makes a beautiful base for decoupage. You can try it on wooden furniture, decorative wood pieces, wall art, frames, and many other projects.
Apply your medium over a completely dry acrylic paint using a flat synthetic brush, making sure that all of your brushstrokes are going in the same direction. (Tip: Chalk paint makes a perfect base coat!) Keep in mind that a thicker application will create larger cracks, while a thinner coat will create smaller cracks.
Allow the crackle medium to dry naturally for the perfect texture. Once the crackle medium dries, apply a topcoat in a different color to bring out the crackle. Drying time varies based on thickness of application and ambient conditions, but it typically takes 30 minutes to 1 hour for the crackle effect to fully develop.
